Pamela Leggate has been drawing and painting all of her life. She has a degree in art education from Kutztown University and extensive experience as an art educator and painting instructor in a variety of educational settings.
She is a native of the Northeast, but has lived abroad and travels widely. Her art is heavily influenced by her travels.
Her work is widely exhibited in the northeastern United States, as well as in the United Kingdom. Her travels provide inspiration for her painting. Many works feature scenes in England and Scotland.
She draws and paints in several media, but focuses on transparent watercolor. When choosing a subject, she is most drawn to the quality of the light on the object versus the object itself. Her works reveal the play of light against dark and dark against light, often within the same painting.

Every time I begin a new painting I’m filled with excitement. Planning the composition. Choosing the colors. How should I limit my palette? What am I trying to show, and what should be left unsaid?
There is such joy in watercolors and all that they can do. They are full of surprises. The pleasure of exploring ways to push brush and paint across paper, or dropping a blossom in where it’s least expected.
